Global Engagement Position Open To: All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours: 20 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Earliest Start Date: Immediately Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until May 15, 2026 Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Job Details: International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is looking for a graduate student to assist our Sponsored and Exchange Programs (SEP) team. This team serves inbound reciprocal exchange students who study at UT for one or two semesters, along with degree-seeking international sponsored students who are funded by foreign governments, organizations, and companies. Tasks include administrative and organizational work as well as some communication and event planning. We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented graduate student who is excited about working with diverse populations and committed to providing excellent service to students. This position is an opportunity for a graduate student interested in international education, admissions, program development, and even improving work-flow processes. Purpose: The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Sponsored and Exchange Programs (SEP) supports the planning and execution of events for both exchange and sponsored international students under the guidance of the SEP Senior Program Coordinator. This role provides the opportunity to develop leadership and program coordination skills, particularly through managing the Keep Austin Global program. The GA plays a key role in student communication, assisting with the admissions process, reviewing immigration-related forms, and ensuring accurate data management. By maintaining databases, updating Excel files, and compiling weekly statistical reports, the GA contributes to the efficient operation and continuous improvement of SEP services. Responsibilities: Event Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the SEP Senior Program Coordinator to plan and execute events for exchange and sponsored students. Propose and implement programs and activities: Schedule presenters and coordinate event logistics. Create and distribute surveys using Qualtrics. Maintain and monitor RSVPs. Make catering arrangements. Research and implement necessary technical components for events. Program Coordination and Leadership Development: Lead the planning and execution of the Keep Austin Global exchange student program. Develop leadership and coordination skills through hands-on project management. Student Communication and Support: Assist with general correspondence and communication related to the exchange nomination, application, and review processes. Guide incoming exchange students through the admission process via email communication. Review student-submitted forms used in the issuance of immigration documents. Data Management and Reporting: Update and maintain sponsored and exchange student databases and Excel files. Track and report weekly program statistics. Social Media and Student Engagement: Manage the Exchange Facebook/WhatsApp group. Create strategies and content to increase student engagement on the platform. Procedure Documentation and Workflow Improvement: Maintain comprehensive internal records of updated procedures. Research and recommend improvements to streamline workflows and improve clarity of information for students and partners. Required Qualifications
Must be a current or admitted graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin. Experience working directly with college/university students. Ability to work 20hrs/week in the office during business hours. Ability to demonstrate initiative, strong administrative, organizational, research and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with diverse populations and to work collaboratively within a team atmosphere. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information. Preferred Qualifications
Ability to stay for at least two academic years; relevant international experience; experience working with international students or scholars; advanced Excel skills; experience building communication plans; interest in innovative communications (ex: developing pre-arrival webinars); hold a valid Texas Drivers License and agree to be certified to drive a university vehicle. Salary Range $20.00 an hour
Working Conditions
Standard office environment. Working hours will generally be between Monday -Friday, 8:00 - 5:00, to be scheduled with supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend hours. Required Materials
