Disability Cultural Center Ambassador Student Associate
The Disability Cultural Center is a center within the Division of Student Affairs. Started in January 2023, the Disability Cultural Center (DCC) was created to establish, connect, promote and sustain disability community, education and advocacy at UT. The DCC serves disabled students, faculty, alumni as well as nondisabled members of the UT and the Austin community. The DCC Student Ambassadors will work closely with the DCC Director and Graduate Assistants to assist in managing the DCC space as well as development and implementation of educational and social programming and partnerships. Specific schedule will be determined at time of hiring. Responsibilities: Assist with development and implementation of DCC social and educational programs Collaborate with campus and community partners on events, programs, classes, etc. Staff the DCC space and create a welcoming and accessible environment Serve as a resource for DCC-related inquiries and information requests Represent DCC at tabling events, information sessions, etc. Support DCC Communication efforts (social media, newsletter, etc.) Required Qualifications: Must be an enrolled student eligible for work study (undergraduate or graduate students welcome) Commitment to valuing disability as a culture, identity and community Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member Able to reliably adhere to DCC policies and instructions Experience with most standard office technology and software; Microsoft Office, Survey software (Qualtrics), instant messaging platforms (Slack/Discord), social media (Facebook, Instagram), etc. Previous experience with coordinating and/or assisting with programs/events Preferred Qualifications: Previous customer service experience Familiarity with disability through the lens of culture/identity, Disability Studies and Disability Justice Salary Range: $12.00-14.00 per hour Working Conditions: Typical office environment, may have some working hours outside or in other spaces on campus This position will be primarily onsite at the SSB, with the option for limited remote hours Location: Student Services Building (100 W Dean Keeton St, Austin, TX 78712) SSB 2.106 Work Shift: 10-12 hours per week Hours will be completed primarily onsite at the SSB during normal working hours, Monday
Friday, 8 am
5 pm, with limited opportunity for remote hours as well as evening/weekend hours This position will start in August 2025 with the possibility of continuing employment beyond the 2025-2026 academic year.
