The Bartender is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the social venues of the hotel. The Bartender sets-up, services, and breaks-down the bar area ensuring a high level of quality, consistency, and service. The Bartender sets the tone for Sonesta's mission of "Wowing" our guests with Amazing Moments. The role's primary responsibility is to welcome guests, take orders, and prepare and serve food and beverage items to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner in accordance with quality standards. The Bartender must maintain supplies and follow established cleanliness and sanitation guidelines. The ideal candidate has a passion for hospitality and providing exceptional guest service. Work Environment: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Majority of work takes place indoors. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e. kitchens, freezers. Physical Demands: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Majority of work takes place indoors. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e. freezers, loading dock. Expected Hours of Work: Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays. Must be flexible to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights). Ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required. Education and Experience: Experience as a Bartender required, preferably in a high-volume bar. Experience with computerized cash registers preferred. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include: Greet, welcome, and interact with guests in a warm and friendly manner. Take orders, prepare drinks according to recipes and serve all food and beverage requests in the bar. Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu. Prepare the bar for service by ensuring bar supplies, garnishes, utensils are properly set up in accordance with quality standards. Inventory unused liquor and beverages. Ensure that all liquor is properly secured before, during, and at close of shift. Adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures. Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. system. Clean and reset bartop and tables immediately after guests depart. Complete all closing duties and reports as assigned. Secure all liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas. Adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines. Adhere to uniform and grooming standards. Perform other duties or projects as requested by management. Qualifications and Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Able to work quickly without compromising quality. Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of performance. Attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees. Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift. Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. Food handlers and TIPS certificates required. Previous front facing guest service experience required. Must read, write, and speak the English language fluently. Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
