For the 2025-2026 academic year, the Department of Theatre and Dance is looking for a creative, detail-oriented student employee to join the department's Communications team as the Social Media Ambassador. This position provides essential support for the department's marketing initiatives and offers an opportunity to develop professional experience in arts administration and social media content creation in an academic setting. Responsibilities: Develop, pitch and coordinate social media content for the Department of Theatre and Dance Photograph departmental events and rehearsals for use on social media Conduct interviews and create video content, including editing footage and Instagram reels Monitor engagement and trends across social media platforms Collaborate with the communications team and assist with additional tasks as needed Required Qualifications
Must be a student at The University of Texas at Austin, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Should be majoring in or have a strong interest in theatre and dance, arts administration, marketing (especially social media marketing), communications or related arts fields Strong communication, verbal and writing skills Working knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines Ability to coordinate and maintain workload independently Initiative and eagerness to assist with content development Enthusiasm for the performing arts, student engagement, social media marketing and/or photography Preferred Qualifications
Strong photography experience Videography experience Experience with iMovie (or other video editing software) Experience with Photoshop/Adobe Experience with Canva (or other graphic creation software) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Teams Salary Range
$14.50 per hour Working Conditions
Candidate should expect to work remotely for some portion of the work week. A workspace in the F. Loren Winship Drama Building can be arranged if needed. Standing and/or walking for an extended period of time. Occasional work taking photos/videos in theatres with dark, theatrical lighting. Work Shift
5 hours per week, some during business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm) and some on weekends/evenings. Specific work schedule will vary each week depending on photography/videography needs. Work to be performed remote and in-person, on campus (300 East 23rd Street, Austin, Texas). Position ends April 27, 2026 Rehire eligible based on performance. Required Materials
