Description
As the Director of Business Development, Clinical Research, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our clinical research organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with deep industry knowledge and proven expertise in building partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving revenue goals. You will lead efforts to develop relationships with pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and other key stakeholders, positioning our organization as a trusted partner in the clinical research space. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our business while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities: Drive New Business Opportunities: Conduct market research and analysis to identify and target prospective clients in the clinical research sector. Develop and implement strategies to secure new business and expand the client base. Build Strategic Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and other industry stakeholders to foster collaboration and explore partnership opportunities. Lead Business Development Initiatives: Design and execute comprehensive business development plans, including attending conferences, leveraging industry networks, and closing high-value deals. Conduct Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights to senior leadership. Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as operations, finance, and marketing, to ensure alignment and seamless execution of business development strategies. Prepare and Present Proposals: Develop customized proposals and presentations that clearly communicate the value and competitive advantages of our clinical research services to potential clients. Monitor Business Development Metrics: Track sales activities, assess progress against goals, and deliver regular reports on pipeline performance and development metrics to senior management. Represent the Organization: Serve as a brand ambassador at industry events and conferences, promoting our services and building a credible presence within the clinical research community. Participate in Leadership Activities: Engage in management and site meetings to share insights, contribute to decision-making, and align business development strategies with organizational goals. Travel: Travel approximately 20% of the time to meet with clients and attend conferences.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in business development or sales within the clinical research industry, focusing on pharmaceuticals or CROs.
Qualifications and Skills: Must have a strong knowledge of clinical research processes and industry trends. Proven ability to build strategic partnerships and deliver revenue growth. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and capable of typing at 40+ WPM. Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Well-developed communication and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and work collaboratively. Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. High integrity, professionalism, and adherence to confidentiality standards, including HIPAA compliance.
Preferred Attributes: Experience in business development within clinical research for dermatology. Proven sales success in initiating and closing clinical research deals. Proficiency in CRM tools and experience with managing a sales pipeline. Demonstrated networking and relationship-building expertise.
