Senior Manager, Automation Engineering

The Senior Manager of Automation Engineering will be responsible for developing and leading the strategic planning and execution of Engineering Automation globally across the Medical Business Unit. This pivotal role will drive the development of cutting-edge automation solutions across our engineering processes and systems. The successful candidate will deploy a roadmap aligned with both manufacturing and product/commercial teams to automate business processes. They will utilize tools such as Process Automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) to support "Building In Quality" while improving cost-effectiveness and competitive pricing. This role will partner with TE Medical Continuous Improvement teams to deploy solutions that transform current/established process methodologies. The focus will be on achieving tangible gains in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Productivity, as well as establishing Engineering and Process Platform standards to deliver standardized methodologies and equipment globally. The Senior Manager will lead a global engineering and automation team. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Medical Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The ideal candidate should sit in Minneapolis, MN. Responsibilities

Develop a long-term visionary strategy for three key Engineering aspects: Equipment and Process Engineering, Automation, and Transformation. Create and implement annual goals aligned with TE Medical Strategy Deployment, Voice of Process, and Voice of Customer. Develop and deploy Engineering solutions to enhance Cost, Capacity, and Quality, improving Customer and Shareholder experience. Support Product Development in optimizing designs and processes for manufacturability through sample tooling, products, and prototypes. Design an agile organization to support Product Business Units and Core Processing Capabilities across the business. Ensure the integrity of new process/technology design for product and process performance. Collaborate with New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. Maintain financial accountability for organizational activities and expected deliverables/outcomes. Develop the team's technical and leadership capabilities, ensuring a clear succession pathway. Stay informed about Industrial and Technology market developments and best practices, translating them into operationally effective solutions. Build a network of automation vendors to accelerate capital deployment across Medical. Engage people and generate excitement about the future of operations, ensuring proper engagement to execute necessary improvements. Set priorities for the Engineering group and influence the definition of operations targets for various sites. Execute improvement activities in a disciplined manner to drive service model and gross margin improvements. Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives to establish a world-class operations footprint enabling customer growth. Excel in collaboration across boundaries, transferring best practices among regions and partnering with functional teams from corporate and other TE businesses. Promote a culture reflecting company values, encouraging outstanding performance, and fostering a positive work environment. Implement metrics and KPIs to measure the success of automation initiatives. Communicate automation strategies and results to senior leadership. Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple automation projects simultaneously. Ensure a consistent and standard approach to scientific/practical problem-solving across Medical. Maintain a consistent and compliant approach to Safety Standards and Regulations. What Your Background Should Look Like:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; Master's Degree preferred. 10 to 15 years of professional experience focusing on Process Engineering, Engineering Management, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering 7 or more years of managerial experience leading, mentoring and coaching a global team Background working in a heavily matrixed environment Experience influencing at all levels of management and business units Proven experience leading and transforming Engineering functions and Operations at multiple sites or value stream level. Experience with Process & Quality Validations in medical device manufacturing environments. Solid proficiency in technical documentation, including advanced CAD modeling and engineering drawings. Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Process Capability Index (Cpk/Ppk) applications. Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels, from shop floor to top management. Strong team leadership skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results. Analytical, data-driven mindset with strong problem-solving abilities. Capability to maintain a holistic overview of complex situations and flexibility to deal effectively with challenging issues. Willingness to travel to other regions within the business unit, including overnight stays Competencies
