Controller / Senior Accountant

We are seeking an experienced and driven Controller / Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting operations of our diverse, multi-entity organization. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and performance. Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all operating entities. Manage the full-cycle month-end and year-end close process, including all reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals. Generate and present timely profit & loss reports, balance sheets, and variance analyses to executive leadership. Consolidate financial data across multiple business units, including restaurants, hotels, and real estate holdings. 2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Analysis
Lead the annual budgeting process across all departments and entities. Develop rolling forecasts and cash flow projections to support financial planning. Monitor budget vs. actual performance and provide actionable insights to department heads. Work closely with ownership and operations to evaluate new business opportunities and model investment returns. 3. Accounting Operations & Internal Controls
Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Maintain and enforce internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP. Monitor and manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations. Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. 4. Payroll & Vendor Management
Coordinate with HR and third-party payroll providers to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing. Oversee vendor onboarding, contract compliance, and payment terms. Manage vendor and contractor relationships in coordination with operations and procurement teams. 5. Tax Compliance & External Reporting
Prepare or support the preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings in partnership with external CPAs. Ensure timely filing of sales tax, franchise tax, and other required reports. Assist in audits, financial reviews, and other reporting requirements as needed. Maintain compliance with evolving tax regulations and licensing requirements for hospitality businesses. 6. Systems & Technology
Manage and optimize accounting software for accuracy, reporting, and scalability. Support the integration of new systems across the company (POS, inventory, HRIS) to ensure seamless financial tracking. Leverage Excel and other tools to create dashboards, models, and real-time reporting for leadership. 7. Leadership & Team Collaboration
Work directly with the executive team to support strategic decision-making. Act as a financial advisor to brand leaders, GMs, and department heads across the portfolio. Support and potentially manage junior accounting staff as the department grows. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred). 5+ years of progressive accounting or controllership experience, ideally in hospitality, multi-unit operations, or real estate. Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools. Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and multi-entity accounting. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong analytical mindset with a high level of integrity and accountability.
