POSITION SUMMARY • Provides support for the Trauma Services Manager and the Trauma Department to maintain requirements for trauma designation. POSITION SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • Reports To: • Trauma Services Manager, Unit Director, Hospital Administrative Supervisor and/or Nursing Leadership • Supervises: • None POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Minimum Education • High School Diploma • Minimum Work Experience • Trauma Registry Experience Preferred at a Trauma Designated Facility • Required Licenses/Certifications • Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR). • Certified Abbreviated Injury Scoring Specialist (CAISS) • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities • Knowledge of computer programs such as word, excel and typing abilities. • ICD 10 certified within 1 year of hire • Trauma Registry Course within 1 year of hire • AAAM certification in within 1 year of hire • Preferred Qualification • Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR). • Certified Abbreviated Injury Scoring Specialist (CAISS) • Experience with Trauma Base/ESO Registry Platform JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan. 2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct. 3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs. 4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program. 5. Complies with all HIPAA standards. 6. Demonstrates an understanding of the Trauma Registry. 7. Accurately abstracts patient information from medical record for entry into registry. 8. Assemble and disseminates information collected by the registry according to defined guidelines. 9. Assists TSM to develop and implement policies and procedures for trauma registry functions that comply with DSHS and ACS. 10. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, coding/abstracting, and data systems including: ICD-9, AIS, Iss and other appropriate systems. 11. Assists TSM to update needed staff to changes in trauma criteria when changes or made. 12. Promotes a positive work environment that enhances professional respect, growth, creativity and active participation in achieving of the mission and vision of the organization. 13. Assists the TSM to maintain any reports to DSHS or other regulatory agencies that are required. 14. Assists TSM to coordinate Injury Prevention Programs in the community. Documents education and outreach that is done through the Trauma Department. 15. Gathers required information for case reviews for Child Fatality Review and maintains minutes of the meeting. 16. Organizes classes for ENPC/TNCC and ensures that students get the needed information prior to class. Maintains records of the classes. 17. Maintains expiration of ENPC/TNCC classes for trauma application. 18. Assists TSM to ensure that agencies are paid timely for applications, dues, classes, etc. 19. Maintains paper supplies for Emergency Departments such as RX paper, armbands, discharge envelopes, etc. and assists with customer service boards and "STAR" nominations. 20. Assists Trauma Services Manager to maintain quality indicators. 21. Assists Trauma Services Manager to provide appropriate information to the appropriate departments to ensure any funding available through trauma uncompensated funds, grants, etc.
