We are seeking a strategic, mission-driven leader to join us as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and help guide St. Ann’s through its next phase of growth and impact.

Position Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) serves as a key member of St. Ann’s Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic and operational leadership across all programs and services. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO oversees day-to-day operations, ensures program excellence, drives organizational effectiveness, and supports long-term sustainability.

This role is ideal for a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of human services operations, a passion for strengthening families, and a proven ability to translate vision into measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Partner with the CEO to shape and implement St. Ann’s strategic priorities and long-term vision.
  • Translate organizational goals into actionable operational plans, ensuring alignment across all programs and departments.
  • Identify opportunities to expand and enhance services for children, youth, and families in the community.

Program Oversight & Service Excellence

  • Oversee daily operations of all St. Ann’s programs, including supportive housing, residential care, early childhood education, and clinical services.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and evidence-based services that meet regulatory standards and funder requirements.
  • Develop systems for monitoring program outcomes, evaluating impact, and driving continuous improvement.

Facilities

  • Oversee daily operations and upkeep of facilities, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Manage maintenance schedules, repairs, and vendor relationships for building and equipment needs.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain records of inspections, certifications, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Develop and manage facilities budget, prioritizing cost-effective improvements.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and support program directors (Clinical and Social Work, Residential, Childcare) and operational and administrative staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Recruit and retain top talent, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet the needs of residents and program participants.
  • Champion excellent service, transparency, diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of organizational culture and decision-making.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Optimize operational processes and resource allocation for maximum efficiency and impact.
  • Work closely with the finance team to develop and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Support development efforts by providing data, impact stories, and operational insight to strengthen donor relationships and funding proposals.

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a direct services agency, preferably in child and family services.
  • Strong track record of operational leadership in a multi-program, mission-driven organization.
  • Deep understanding of trauma-informed care, housing services, early childhood programs, and/or supportive services for families.
  • Skilled in building high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, and managing change.
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting, contract management, and outcomes-based funding models.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel locally between program sites and external partner meetings.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and operate office equipment as needed.
  • Occasional light lifting or movement of program materials or supplies.

Salary and Benefits
The target annual salary range is $155k - $165k. St. Ann's also offers the following benefits:
