PGS Worldwide
PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 1-year contract-to-hire opportunity in Minneapolis, Minnesota . This position supports complex product design, engineering analysis, and development for critical aerospace and defense systems including ammunition handling, missile launchers, and other mechanical subsystems. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in PTC Creo Parametric 9.0 and have a strong understanding of precision mechanical design, tolerance analysis, and documentation standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical design or development (or 2+ years with a Master's degree)
- Proficiency in PTC Creo (Parametric 9.0 preferred) for part, assembly, and drawing creation
- Strong ability to solve moderately complex technical design problems
- Experience working with internal/external machine shops to manufacture components
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of product lifecycle and documentation practices in engineering
- Willingness to work on-site 3 days/week (Tuesday and Wednesday required, Monday or Thursday optional)
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5 - 2009 or 2018)
- Familiarity with tolerance stack analysis methods
- Experience with Windchill or other EPDM systems
- Knowledge of military and commercial mechanical design standards
- Background in developing precision assembly tooling
- Experience in a defense or military production environment
- Create and maintain moderately complex mechanical parts, assemblies, and drawings using PTC Creo
- Support the design and development of mechanical systems including ammunition handling systems, gun systems, and missile launchers
- Analyze engineering specs, technical data, models, and drawings to ensure compliance with military standards and performance goals
- Perform testing, evaluation, and analysis to validate system designs
- Generate and revise technical documentation, including engineering reports and presentations
- Collaborate with production, testing, and engineering teams throughout development
- Stay current on industry practices and engineering trends relevant to product design
- Contribute to scheduling, planning, and reporting on assigned project portions
