Position Overview The U.S. Soccer Federation, serving as the governing body of soccer in the United States for over 100 years, aims to ignite a national passion for the game. We believe soccer is more than just a sport; it is a force for good. We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Manager, Communications, to elevate the profile of the Soccer Forward Foundation and align communications across teams to support our growth and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the Foundation in collaboration with the VP, External Communications.
Create storytelling opportunities and maintain media relationships to promote the Foundation's work.
Craft narratives highlighting the impact of the Foundation, major gifts, and donor partnerships.
Coordinate storytelling efforts across Advancement, Commercial, and Foundation teams to ensure consistency and amplify impact.
Prepare press materials, feature stories, speeches, and donor communications.
Pitch stories to media outlets and secure coverage to increase visibility.
Manage reactive press inquiries and provide strategic media assessments.
Oversee creation of donor spotlights, social media content, videos, and other storytelling tools.
Align messaging across teams and support commercial partnerships with relevant content.
Manage multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
Provide regular updates and track progress for internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in communications, public relations, or related areas.
Proven experience in campaign development, storytelling, and media pitching.
Exceptional writing and editing skills for diverse formats.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
Experience with nonprofit or philanthropic initiatives is preferred.
Passion for sports, community engagement, and donor relations is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
