Job Summary : The Senior Veterans Coordinator assists the Director of the Military / Veterans Center in the management and administrative processes related to all Veterans Education programs and ensures accurate and timely enrollment certifications for all Hawai‘i Pacific University students participating in Veterans Administration (VA) education programs. The Senior Veterans Coordinator assists in training and supervising the federal work study students to ensure VA student files are in compliance with VA directives. The Senior Veterans Coordinator prepares weekly Yellow Ribbon reports and conducts weekly audits of students account to solve VA payment problems and verifies certifications have been processed correctly. Assists the Director, Military / Veterans Center and the Military / Veterans Advisor with customer service projects focused on the University’s Military / Veteran students. The Senior Veterans Coordinator is the primary point of contact for electronic VA inquiries. Develops and administers VA-related training evolutions and programs with the Dean of College of Professional Studies (CPS) and / or Senior Director of Military Operations / Military Campus Programs (MCP) direction. Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree Two years administrative or management experience preferably in higher education Experience with military and veteran’s education programs Demonstrated computer proficiency, with emphasis in the utilization of functionality in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel Must be able to attain personal access to military bases in Hawai‘i. Some travel on / off island required BANNER experience to include generating and understanding degree plans to the same proficiency as an academic advisor Master’s Degree Detail oriented and meticulous in record keeping Ability to work independently and as part of a team Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and adhere to established deadlines Previous designation as a VA School Certifying Official Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position. Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary. This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation. Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy. Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle that is legally registered and insured. This position may also require driving responsibility for an HPU vehicle. Due to driving responsibilities, you must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with HPU’s Vehicle Driving policy. Able to work all shifts and extended hours. Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills. Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions : 1. Administrative (60%)

Assist Regional VA office with student account issues – payments, housing, book stipends, and periodic inspections Process VA Certifications and maintain reporting responsibilities while serving as the main liaison with Hawaii and Regional (Muskogee) based VA personnel Assist University Business Office with general customer service pertaining to processing of all Veterans Education programs Assist University Business Office with student customer service and installment processing for delinquent or past due accounts caused by delays in receipt of Post 9 / 11 GI Bill payments Assist University Financial Aid / Scholarships Office with processing of Post 9 / 11 GI Bill Yellow Ribbon accounts Establish and maintain VA certification tracking system to ensure student records are correct and current Maintain VA student account files Assist State Approving Authority (SAA) with University program administration and inspection Organize, process, distribute, and “clean-up” data entry reports for VA reporting purposes Coordinate with the CPS Dean and Senior Director of Military Operations / MCP to create relevant VA-related statistical reports based on registration information to assist in managing and assessing University and CPS / MCP operations. 2. Supervision and Training (25%)

Train HPU VA certifying officials on all automated VA certification systems Assist with BANNER development and testing of new programs and upgrades Assist Director, Military / Veterans Center with scheduling and presenting staff training on VA policies and procedures Develop, administer, and maintain CPS / MCP VA-related training programs Assist with initial staff training for all new employees as well as recurring training Assist with the creation and maintenance of VA-related training manuals and operating instructions. Supervise and train part-time and federal work study students / staff 3. Liaise with departments that provide assistance to students using Veterans Education Benefits (10%)

Provide assistance / advice to CPS / MCP coordinators and staff members on Military / Veteran Center and VA-related issues Provide staff assistance / fill-in for CPS / MCP offices during peak registration periods or emergencies Maintain professional relationships and liaise with CPS / MCP personnel, military education offices, and other HPU organizations Provide assistance and support to the Director, Military / Veteran Center and assume those duties in his / her absence 4. Performs other related duties as assigned (5%)
