Duties
The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring the technical quality of work performed in the lab and that procedures are completed within established time frames, coordinated with other hospital sections. The MIT must instruct lower-level technicians by clearly defining specific tasks and providing on-the-job training. Provides scheduling for both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring that patients requiring emergent or critical procedures are appropriately triaged. Directs lower-level technicians regarding triage of emergent or critical procedures. Ensures procedures performed are appropriate and necessary based on provided information. Possesses specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities to guide lower-level technicians on special requests, unusual findings, emergency evaluations, or imaging difficulties. In both inpatient and outpatient settings, explains the purpose and methodology of procedures to patients in an understandable manner. Positions patients independently, considering patient limitations, and obtains diagnostic ultrasound images of the heart with all required measurements. Performs specialized cardiac ultrasound examinations, including transthoracic echo, stress echo, and transesophageal echo, ensuring high-quality images and measurements, and assisting physicians with interpretation. Documents ability to perform full studies, including obtaining 2D, color flow, and Doppler images of major cardiac structures, with preliminary reports completed within an hour. Prepares patients and assists in all aspects of transesophageal exams, including monitoring vital signs, suctioning, and following strict sterilization guidelines, with documented experience performing at least 50 such exams. Performs echocardiograms with ultrasound enhancing agents, ensuring proper IV placement, documentation, and high-quality image acquisition. Conducts agitated saline bubble echocardiograms with proper patient preparation and image acquisition. Performs advanced echocardiograms, including strain imaging, 3D volumetric imaging, and participates in the structural heart program utilizing various advanced imaging tools. Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:30. Telework is ad-hoc; virtual work is not available.
