Description The
Shelter Manager
is responsible for the daily administrative operation of the shelter and supervision of the Resident Assistants. The
Shelter Manager
reports to the Program Director for weekly supervision and programmatic assignments.
Location:
Chamblet Family Home in Dorchester provides life-stabilization services, intensive housing placement services, and vocational case management services to homeless families and pregnant women. Our program helps families increase self-sufficiency, gain healthy nutritional knowledge, search for more permanent housing, and build job-readiness skills.
Essential Functions
Act in accordance with Victory Programs Standards of Excellence at all times, including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries, and client confidentiality.
Ensure the program complies with all contractual requirements regarding documentation, facility requirements, and licensing.
Co-facilitate weekly staff meetings with the Program Director.
Maintain program inventory for all supplies.
Maintain demographic data sheets monthly.
Supervise, direct, train, and evaluate Resident Assistants with support from the Program Director, Director of Victory Housing, and the Chief Human Resource Officer.
Ensure all staff maintain proper documentation and record-keeping.
Coordinate monthly staff schedules for the shelter.
Participate in rotating on-call schedules and provide emergency coverage when required.
Coordinate monthly client calendar including educational groups, activities, and events.
Communicate effectively with funders, referral sources, vendors, and community organizations.
Develop and maintain service linkages with local providers.
Transport residents as needed.
Collaborate with other Shelter Managers to ensure service continuity.
Attend weekly supervision with the Program Director.
Non-Essential Functions
Represent the program in the community as requested.
Attend all staff meetings, training, and workshops.
Support agency events, rallies, fundraising, and advocacy activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Director of Victory Housing.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred or two years of human services management experience.
Two years of supervisory experience required.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Must be at least 25 years old.
Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Experience working with homeless individuals or those with Substance Use Disorders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to relate to residents in a compassionate and firm manner.
Knowledge of addiction recovery or willingness to learn.
Experience in multicultural settings with diverse clients.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
CPR certification (may be obtained upon hire).
Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire).
Three professional references, including at least 2 from managers or supervisors.
Position Details Type: Full-time (40 hours), Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday
Rate: $63,787 annually
