Key Responsibilities

Design Coordination :Manage the design process across multiple disciplines, ensuring that architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) designs are integrated and coordinated. Facilitate communication and collaboration between architects, engineers, and other design professionals.

Client Liaison :Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and objectives. Translate client needs into design specifications and ensure that design solutions align with their expectations.

Design Management :Oversee the development of design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and models. Ensure that designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Project Integration :Integrate design plans with project schedules and construction activities. Coordinate design changes and updates, managing their impact on the overall project timeline and budget.

Quality Assurance :Ensure that design solutions meet quality standards and are reviewed and approved before implementation. Conduct design reviews and audits to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Risk Management :Identify potential design risks and issues, and develop mitigation strategies. Address and resolve design-related problems that arise during the construction phase.

Budget Management :Monitor design costs and ensure that design solutions are within budget. Work with the cost management team to evaluate cost implications of design changes.

Contract Administration :Prepare and review design-related contractual documents, including scope of work and specifications. Manage design-related disputes and claims, ensuring that contractual obligations are met.

Sustainability and Innovation :Promote sustainable design practices and innovative solutions that enhance project performance and efficiency. Stay updated on the latest design trends, technologies, and best practices.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Design Expertise :Strong understanding of architectural, structural, and MEP design principles and practices. Ability to manage complex design processes and ensure integration across disciplines.

Project Management :Proficiency in project management techniques, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ability to manage multiple design teams and projects simultaneously.

Communication Skills :Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, design teams, and stakeholders. Strong presentation skills for conveying design concepts and solutions.

Problem-Solving Abilities :Ability to identify and address design issues, propose solutions, and make decisions that balance design quality, cost, and schedule.

Attention to Detail :High level of attention to detail in reviewing design documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.

Technical Proficiency :Proficiency in design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, and other design applications.

Leadership and Team Management :Ability to lead and motivate design teams, manage conflicts, and foster collaboration.

Regulatory Knowledge :Understanding of relevant building codes, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance in design solutions.

Educational and Professional Background

Education : Typically, a degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Professional Experience : Extensive experience in design management or a related role within the construction industry, with a proven track record of managing complex design projects. Certifications : Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Architect (RIBA), or Chartered Engineer (CEng) may be advantageous, depending on the specific focus of the role.
