Are you an experienced systems administrator with a passion for public service? Bring your expertise to Multnomah County, where you will directly support the nationally recognized Multnomah County District Attorneys office.
The IT Systems Administrator provides technical assistance and support for strategic enterprise computer systems and related system software and hardware components; performs a variety of complex systems analysis duties in the installation, testing and maintenance of hardware and software; ensures that the enterprise system is operating efficiently; and performs a variety of related technical tasks. This position will focus primarily on supporting the Multnomah County District Attorneys Offices systems and applications. You may also provide training, mentoring and guidance to junior staff members.

This position is located at the Multnomah County Central Courthouse, 1200 SW 1st Avenue, Suite 6200, Portland, Oregon 97204. The work schedule is hybrid.
As a IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the following but not limited to the primary job duties:
System Administration
Applies a level of knowledge of enterprise-wide systems administration to determine optimal system software configuration, hardware/software compatibility, operating system software and enhancements for physical servers, virtual machines, client-server, and cloud based computing systems. Uses judgment, creativity and sound technical knowledge to research, recommend, procure, implement, develop, and maintain mission critical IT solutions including training and supporting end users and other IT staff as needed. Mission critical software currently supported by this position include: CRIMES, Alfresco DMS, MS Exchange, MS Active Directory, MS SQL Server, Clearswift, MS Print Server, FTP server, MS RDS servers, MS File Share, Kofax, Crystal Reports Enterprise, ServiceDesk, SCCM, and MS Domain controllers.
System Diagnostics, Support, And Documentation
Performs high level system diagnostics including virtual, server, and desktop operating system environments; supports the virtual private network, configuration and maintenance of routers and switches, and data circuit monitoring. Manages change control for all department-owned IT systems and acts as a change control liaison for county and court-owned IT system changes. Design, architect, and implement software and hardware solutions and the associated recovery capabilities; and evaluate long-term requirements and perform overall system planning for assigned products. Research, evaluate, test and implement new operating systems or systems software packages; oversee new hardware and software installation and upgrades and support activities with internal and external staff and vendors; and identify and recommend new technologies that may be utilized in order to reduce infrastructure costs and meet or exceed customer needs. Effectively work with service providers, prioritize project deliverables, and determine implementation approaches; and evaluate customer needs, identify and propose solutions to meet requirements and ensure compatibility with existing systems.
Technical Analysis And Systems Administration
Provide technical assistance and support for strategic enterprise servers and midrange computer operating systems. Perform a variety of complex systems analysis duties in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of various computer hardware and software applications. Detect, isolate and resolve complex technical system problems; provide timely and effective level 3 support. Create and modify scripts in a variety of languages (VBScript, Unix shell, PowerShell, etc.). Review, evaluate and analyze new or updated software or operating systems; confer with staff and vendors; design and recommend modifications to existing systems.
System Security
Develops, implements, monitors, and maintains integrated programs (data security, firewall and web security, authentication systems, backup systems, intrusion detection systems) to protect the longevity, stability, and confidentiality of County information resources. Creates and implements disaster recovery plans including documentation and training as needed, customized for different targeted audiences including IT staff, department leadership, and end users.

Required Minimum Qualifications / *Transferable Skills:
Equivalent to a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in information technology or a closely related field. (Additional experience may substitute for education.) AND One (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the postition. Professional knowledge of Microsoft server and workstation security and hardening techniques. Professional knowledge in the administration of Google Workspaces. Professional skill in the administration of Windows Server Operating Systems. Professional skill in the administration of Windows 11 Desktop Operating System. Working knowledge of the administration of Windows Server Virtual Machines. Working knowledge of networking technologies. Working knowledge of using scripting tools (Powershell, Perl, Python). Professional skills in the administration of MDM and iOS devices. Professional knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory including Group Policy administration. Working knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and/or InTune.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
Candidates must successfully pass a thorough criminal background check and post -offer urine drug screen.
