Job Description Salary: negotiable on experience We are seeking a hands-on, working Maintenance Technician to lead and actively participate in the maintenance and repair of industrial lift equipment. This role is ideal for a technically skilled leader who thrives in the field and is comfortable managing third-party contractors while performing daily diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities: Hands-On Maintenance & Repair (6070%) Perform daily inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues. Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure equipment reliability and OSHA compliance. Maintain accurate service logs and repair documentation for all equipment. Contractor Oversight & Supervision (3040%) Manage and coordinate third-party maintenance contractors, ensuring quality workmanship, adherence to safety standards, and timely completion of work orders. Serve as the primary point of contact for external service providers, overseeing scheduling, performance, and compliance with service-level agreements. Inspect and verify contractor work to ensure it meets operational and safety standards. Provide technical guidance and support to contractors as needed, especially during complex repairs or diagnostics. Operational & Strategic Duties Develop and manage a preventive maintenance schedule using CMMS or manual tracking systems. Monitor parts inventory and coordinate procurement of tools, parts, and supplies. Collaborate with operations and warehouse teams to ensure equipment availability aligns with production needs. Manage vendor relationships for outsourced repairs, warranty claims, and equipment upgrades. Cost Reduction & Uptime Improvement Identify and implement strategies to reduce maintenance costs, including parts standardization, vendor negotiation, and in-house repair capabilities. Track and analyze maintenance data to minimize equipment downtime and improve overall fleet reliability. Recommend and execute equipment lifecycle strategies, including refurbishment, replacement, or upgrades. Continuously evaluate maintenance practices to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditures.
Qualifications: Education: Associates or Bachelors degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience accepted. Experience:
5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining industrial lift equipment. 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience managing third-party contractors in an industrial or logistics environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Familiarity with CMMS platforms and maintenance tracking tools. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Certifications (Preferred):
OSHA 30 Forklift and Aerial Lift Operator Certification Manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Toyota, Hyster, JLG, Genie)
