About the Role This is a senior-level commercial role designed for a proven hunter who thrives in the air and ocean freight space. Youll be expected to bring a portable book of business and hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up. The focus is on developing new accounts while also leveraging internal support to ensure client satisfaction and retention. This position is ideal for someone based in the Midwest and familiar with the regional customer base across manufacturing, retail, automotive, or other major verticals. Key Responsibilities Build and manage a personal pipeline of active accounts, with a focus on air and ocean freight services Convert leads into long-term customers and onboard them seamlessly Create customized logistics solutions that align with client needs and service capabilities Work closely with operations and management to ensure service excellence Monitor market activity, pricing trends, and competitor strategies to inform sales efforts Deliver and exceed agreed-upon revenue and margin targets Candidate Requirements Minimum 5 years of freight forwarding experience in a business development capacity Demonstrated success in selling both air and ocean freight services Must reside in the Midwest region (e.g., IL, IN, OH, MI, WI, MN, MO, etc.) Active book of transferrable clients and ability to onboard quickly Non-compete already in place (ideal for clean and conflict-free transition) Experience working for a small to mid-sized forwarder preferred Self-starter mentality with the ability to work remotely or in a hybrid setup What You Can Expect Entrepreneurial environment with high autonomy and low bureaucracy Direct access to executive leadership and decision-makers Flexible structure allowing you to service your customers with confidence Competitive compensation and commission package aligned with performance Opportunity to shape and grow your own vertical or customer base Seniority level
