The Surgery Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of surgery process including, but not limited to: insurance verification, pre-operative certifications/authorizations, scheduling patients for any pre-operative labs, testing and coordination of post-surgery care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate surgical schedules for orthopedic procedures, ensuring optimal use of operating room time and resources.
- Communicate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers to schedule surgeries, pre-operative appointments, and necessary tests.
- Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain pre-authorization for surgical procedures and ensure proper billing processes.
- Provide patients with clear instructions regarding pre-operative preparation, including dietary restrictions, medication guidelines, and transportation arrangements.
- Collaborate with surgical team members, including surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
- Serve as a Medical Assistant, assisting with patient intake, vitals, and medical history documentation as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgical schedules, patient information, and communication logs.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including answering phones, filing paperwork, and managing electronic medical records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience in healthcare scheduling and medical assisting, preferably in an orthopedic or surgical setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
PAY RANGE : $23-25 per hour
