Summary
The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for building and sustaining a cheer program that supports school spirit, enhances the game-day experience, and competes at a high level when applicable. This includes overseeing choreography, stunting, and fostering a disciplined and positive team culture.
Responsibilities
Lead all practices, performances, and competition routines Teach cheer techniques, stunting, and sideline chants in a safe and progressive manner Enforce safety, conduct, and participation standards Coordinate with school staff and coaches for events and game-day performances Communicate clearly with families and students Manage team uniforms, scheduling, and equipment Promote team spirit, school pride, and community involvement
Qualifications
Previous cheer coaching or cheerleading experience required Experience with stunting and cheer safety protocols preferred Must be available to report to MacArthur High School by 4:00 PM on weekdays Must pass the DCPS Athletic Clearance Process, including fingerprinting and background checks CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) DCPS Coaching Certification (or ability to complete upon hire)
