Power to Decide is seeking a Senior Manager, Editorial and Marketing to lead the creation of high-impact, mission-aligned content that strengthens our voice expands our reach and engagement, and deepens our impact. This role is ideal for a skilled communicator who combines exceptional writing and editing skills with digital marketing know-how and project management discipline. From web copy and fundraising materials to blog posts and newsletters, the Senior Manager will help shape messaging that informs, persuades, and inspires action, while ensuring consistency across Power to Decide and its sub-brands. This role will also manage and update content across our websites, using our CMS and collaborating with our digital consultant to implement updates and continuously improve the user experience.

The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with teams across development, policy, and programs to support both external and internal communications. This includes helping craft clear, consistent messaging for a wide range of audiences, including staff, board, partners, health care providers, and our priority populations, and managing our editorial calendar to keep content flowing strategically and on schedule.

We're looking for someone with sharp editorial instincts, a strong grasp of email marketing, and the ability to translate complex sexual and reproductive health and policy topics into clear, accessible messaging tailored to diverse audiences.

Content Creation & Editorial Ownership

Serve as lead editor for all copy across Power to Decide and its sub-brands, including AbortionFinder, Bedsider, and ensuring clarity, accuracy, consistency, and tone alignment Write and edit a variety of content, including fundraising appeals, annual reports, newsletters, press materials, talking points, and social media copy Execute long-form and cross-functional projects (e.g., annual reports, strategic plans), from concept through publication, including drafting, editing, and review coordination Work with the Senior Director, Content to recruit and manage a network of 10+ content consultants and freelancers providing clear guidance and feedback to ensure consistent content quality and alignment with brand voice. Draft scripts for video content, including explainers, interviews, and testimonials Work with the Senior Director, Content to manage the editorial calendar and content workflows in Monday.com Support YouTube content development by writing titles, descriptions, and metadata optimized for discovery and engagement Write and publish mission-aligned blog content that is timely, engaging, and optimized for search Collaborate with the Art Director on creative needs and brand refresh efforts, aligning visual and written content strategy Use Canva to create simple, on-brand visuals that support digital content Occasionally serve as on-screen talent for video content, if appropriate

Cross-Team Collaboration

Maintain the organization's editorial standards and in-house style guides Support brand campaigns and storytelling initiatives, including Thanks, Birth Control Ensure messaging is consistent yet appropriately adapted across Power to Decide and its sub-brands

Digital Content Execution and Optimization

Conduct periodic audits of website content to ensure cultural relevancy, medical accuracy, and alignment with our messaging and style guides Oversee email marketing campaigns: list management, segmentation, automation, formatting, and performance tracking Coordinate the monthly Power to Decide newsletter, from content collection to editing and distribution Manage the relationship with the PowertoDecide.org digital agency to ensure timely web maintenance, enhancements, and troubleshooting Track content performance using Google Analytics and Matomo and apply insights to strengthen reach and engagement Apply SEO best practices and content performance data to guide content creation, updates, and optimization across web and blog content Stay informed on emerging trends in AI Optimization (AIO), and help shape content that is discoverable and accurately represented in AI-generated search responses (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity) Monitor shared inboxes to ensure timely, brand-consistent responses

Internal and External Communications

Develop and refine talking points and key messages for staff, spokespeople, and partners Support PowerPoint decks for board meetings, staff presentations, and public-facing events Copyedit internal communications, including HR announcements, leadership updates, and team messages Contribute to materials for the Board of Directors, including strategic updates and quarterly reports

Qualifications

5–7 years of experience in content creation, copywriting, and editorial work, ideally in a nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven setting Demonstrated experience in health education content creation, preferably within the sexual and reproductive health field Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a portfolio that includes digital, fundraising, marketing, and long-form content Proven ability to translate complex health and policy topics into clear, accessible messaging tailored to diverse audiences Experience writing in multiple voices and tones while maintaining consistent brand alignment Bilingual proficiency (highly preferred) and demonstrated experience creating accessible and culturally relevant content in English and Spanish. Strong understanding of SEO best practices and the ability to apply performance data to optimize content for visibility, engagement, and discoverability Experience or interest in AIO, creating content that's discoverable and accurately represented in AI-generated search responses, is a plus but not required Proficiency with Mailchimp, Drupal (or similar CMS), Google Analytics, Canva, and Monday.com Familiarity with AP and/or Chicago style and experience applying or maintaining an editorial style guide Comfort with Google Workspace, ChatGPT, and digital work management tools (preferably Monday.com) Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills and the ability to multitask, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment. Salary and Benefits

This is an exempt position. Salary range is $90,500 - $103,500 and is commensurate with experience and Power to Decide has an excellent benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 403b, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, and generous leave.
