Senior Data Engineer, AI Studio at Marriott
Position Overview
Own the pipelines that feed Marriott's intelligent assistants. You will design scalable batch and streaming ingestion, automated embedding pipelines, and governance-ready data contracts-ensuring every vector, knowledge-graph edge, and memory byte is fresh, compliant, and cost-efficient.
Key Responsibilities
Build and operate
streaming + batch ETL/ELT pipelines
that land reservation, loyalty, and property data into analytics, vector, and graph stores.
Automate
embedding generation and refresh
(text, image, voice) with change-data capture and cost-aware routing to GPU/CPU pools.
Define
data contracts
and schema-evolution strategies consumable by autonomous agents and downstream micro-services.
Implement
tiered storage & retention policies
for short-term session memory and encrypted long-term guest profiles.
Instrument pipelines with OpenTelemetry metrics; surface lineage, freshness, and cost dashboards.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architect on data governance standards; partner with Tech Lead to optimise retrieval performance.
Qualifications
7 + years data-engineering experience, 2 + years working with embeddings or vector databases.
Hands-on with
Spark, Flink, Kafka, or Kinesis
and modern ELT tooling (DBT, Airflow, Dagster).
Proven expertise in
CDC
, schema evolution, and GDPR/CCPA-compliant data retention.
Comfortable writing production-grade Python/TypeScript and IaC (Terraform/CDK).
Demonstrated cost-optimisation of storage and GPU inference workloads.
Preferred Skills
Experience populating knowledge graphs (RDF/SPARQL or LPG/Cypher) and stitching them to vector stores.
Prior work automating data quality checks with great_expectations or similar frameworks.
The pay range for this position is $47.35 to $86.00 per hour.
