Job Summary
Summary: The CT Patient Coordinator under the direction of the CT Supervisor, who reports to the Radiology Program Manager and Director of Radiology, assists in the CT workflow by scheduling Emergency and Inpatient CT scans, answering phones, preparing patients for scans, phone screening, paging Radiologists and providers as needed and other related tasks. The CT Patient Coordinator will assist in the Lung Cancer Screening Program as needed including patient calls, data entry and scheduling annual and follow-up exams. The coordinator will perform clinical tasks utilizing EPIC to assist in safe patient scanning under the technologist's guidance. The Patient Coordinator should be team orientated and comfortable with multi-tasking while maintaining quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. Radiology: The Radiology Patient Coordinator under the direction of the modality supervisor, assists in the department patient workflow while working under the guidance of a technologist. The Patient Coordinator should be team orientated and comfortable with multi-tasking while maintaining quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. Essential Functions
Assists in communication requests from outside providers by answering and transferring phone calls as needed. Makes screening phone calls for CT exams and procedures as required. Schedule same day add-on, ED, and inpatient CT requests into the schedule worklist. Proficient use of the EMR for history, lab and allergy look-up and documentation. Assist in CT Room turnover. Patient ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher transport as needed. Assist in safe patient transfer from stretcher and CT bed. Reviewing CT exam orders to ensure all required documentation is included. Confirm when required on all CT orders: order matches signs/symptoms, all required orders are in place, prior authorization is in place, labs are available or ordered, contrast allergies are highlighted. Assist the CT Supervisor and CT Manager in the Lung Cancer Screening Program by performing tasks required: order meets criteria, screening phone calls, scheduling annual appointments, contacting ordering providers to confirm follow up exams are ordered, data entry. Ensures insurance prior authorizations have been acquired. Communicates with managed care staff and physician's offices as needed to secure authorizations. Consistently demonstrates effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental and hospital staff. Takes initiative to follow up on matters as required. Performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care. Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Associate's Degree preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only preferred Experience CT, Radiology: Medical Field experience preferred Mammography: at least 1-2 years of Medical Field experience 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - CT: Staff adheres to all C.A.R.E. Standards Must be able to multi-task and think in a proactive manner.
