IT System Administrator -- Senior/Specialist
Work Hours and Partial Telework Flexibility May Be Available and Considered Relocation Compensation May Be Available and Considered Salary: $7,730.00 - $10,396.00 Monthly In addition to the advertised salary range, the incumbent will receive an additional 5% supervisory pay. Responsibilities: Actively participates in internal and external planning meetings, providing leadership amongst peers at the statewide level, and as a subject matter expert, advises leadership on IT systems used by the division to support the strategic development of the division. Regularly monitors and evaluates current system components and takes necessary steps to keep the information system reliably available and functioning. Designs and architects the solutions to ensure the long-term technical sustainability and ease-of-maintenance of the statewide Forest Practices information systems. Manages program-wide (or division-wide) system migrations and conversions and works with ITD to establish testing and training of updated software before implementation. Integrates hardware and software components within the systems environment. Manages systems resources, including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability. Manages accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment. Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems, and application software. (Depending on the circumstance, this may be done in collaboration with the IT Division.) Provides expert advice, research, and recommends changes to, or new system components to more effectively and efficiently implement the FP program. Implements changes to existing systems needed because of new agency systems, such as One Washington or new FP systems, such as fponline. Evaluates the potential impacts of new technology and or approaches on the existing system components. Applies and manages IT resources/capacity effectively to meet clients business needs on an individual basis as necessary. This position is the first point of contact for Division employees regarding IT issues on associated systems, new or upgraded functions, updates, and user access. Troubleshoots systems availability in the event of and in anticipation of problems. Provides guidance, recommendations, and/or resolution of IT customer issues, working with their direct reports or the IT Division as necessary to resolve complex technical issues. Works to resolve customer complaints that cannot be resolved by the FP IT team members. Ensures communication is quickly conveyed to ITD for the resolution of system issues impeding FPD business in order to meet customer needs and statute or rule requirements. Analyzes and assesses industry direction and agency progression into new technological directions, analyzes the new technology capabilities, and how that may be applied to the organization. Continuously researches, evaluates, and recommends new technology in the fields of natural resources, GIS, database management, and programming. Manages and timely responds to information requests from the Division Manager, the Forest Practices Board, or other DNR senior leadership. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other closely related field, AND seven (7) years of
