Position Highlights

The Research Systems Administrator will collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers in analyzing complex datasets and publishing results. They will be responsible for compiling data, performing statistical analyses, and communicating results to stakeholders. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the research team, serving as the data steward and providing high-level analyses of unique and specialized data generated from multiple research cohorts within the Asthma/Airway Disease Research Center (A2DRC). They will participate in the design of protocols, the interpretation of results and the development of grants and publications. Duties & Responsibilities Utilize in depth expertise in data management, statistics and specialized databases to work on high impact initiatives that involve partnerships not only with leaders within the university but with collaborators at other higher education institutions and clinical partners. This person will curate, extract, and synthesize complex phenotypic, demographic, and epidemiologic data from a wide array of sources including relational databases, clinical registries, and research specific repositories including but not limited to REDCap, NIH dbGaP, and variety of customized databases. Complies with data use agreements to ensure responsible data handling including sensitive information such as Protected Health Information. Makes recommendations to leaders regarding highly complex research and university initiatives. Performs epidemiological statistical analysis and program results utilizing a variety of tools including STATA and SPSS. Read and interpret data using SQL. Works with management to provide strategic guidance to leaders on multiple complex projects and programs that have nationwide impact. Designs and develops dynamic reports and visual representations of data to communicate analytical findings. Respond to national cohort-level data requests, providing analytical and graphic design support for research projects, papers, and grants. Develops and maintains databases, creates new variables for researchers and analysts. Performs variable derivation, data harmonization, quality assurance/quality control, SIR and adapt data requests on clinical, environmental and medical data sets. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good communication skills for presenting data and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Effective communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to conduct research independently and within a team. Ability to work with minimal to no supervision. Knowledge of datasets including REDcap and SIR. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information Knowledge of data use governance, including NIH and UofA data use sharing policies and best practices. Demonstrated skill with SQL programming language. Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in microbiology/immunology or other biology related field. 8 years of relevant work experience.
