We are seeking a visionary and execution-driven Executive Director of Lab Services to lead the end-to-end strategy, planning, and operations of our global laboratory portfolio. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of lab environments, including facility design and construction, infrastructure reliability, space planning, facilities maintenance, lab experience, and the strategic execution of moves, adds, and changes (MAC). This leader will work across cross-functional teamsincluding Engineering, IFM, Technical Services, HSSE, OP, MAC, and Tech/Data, to ensure our lab environments are innovative, scalable, safe, and aligned with the clients technical and specific goals for each product area. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Governance Define and lead the global strategy for lab planning, operations, and infrastructure aligned to business growth. Build and lead a high-performing team covering lab operations, technical services, capital projects, planning, AC, and workplace experience. Provide executive oversight of lab governance models, performance metrics, and risk mitigation strategies. Design, Construction & Capital Projects Oversee lab facility design, construction, and commissioningensuring flexibility, compliance, and future-readiness. Manage lab renovations, expansions, and specialized infrastructure upgrades across multiple regions. Direct project delivery, schedule adherence, and cost control for all capital and tenant improvement (TI) projects, where applicable. Operations, Infrastructure & Maintenance Ensure reliable performance of lab infrastructure, including MEP systems, clean power, HVAC, DI/RO water, compressed gases, and critical utilities. Own preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for critical lab equipment and building systems. Drive continuous improvement and uptime standards in highly technical environments. Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC) Lead the planning and execution of all lab-related MAC activities, including equipment relocation, space modifications, and occupancy adjustments. Partner with lab managers and business units to ensure MAC activities are executed with minimal disruption and aligned to scientific workflows. Develop and manage MAC playbooks, scheduling tools, and change request workflows to enable agility and compliance. Lab Planning, Space Utilization & Forecasting Align space strategy with evolving R&D and product development needs through short- and long-term lab planning. Leverage data to optimize lab utilization and inform investment decisions. Lab Experience, EH&S & Compliance Champion a best-in-class lab user experiencefostering safety, collaboration, and operational ease for a frictionless environment. Ensure lab operations comply with regulatory standards, EH&S and HSSE requirements and policies. Establish standard operating procedures for lab services and support. Qualifications:
15+ years of progressive leadership in lab facility operations, infrastructure, construction, and engineering in the tech, life sciences. Semiconductor industry is highly recommended. Deep expertise in technical lab systems (e.g., HVAC, clean rooms, DI/RO water, lab gases, electrical). Proven track record with organizations managing large-scale lab moves, equipment installations, and space reconfigurations. Strong capital planning, budgeting, and vendor management skills. Experience with smart building systems, CMMS, and lab planning tools is a plus. Demonstrated success in cross-functional leadership and executive stakeholder engagement. Preferred Background & Traits:
Professional Engineer License Masters or MBA Strategic and systems-level thinker with strong executional rigor. Passion for supporting scientific innovation through built environment excellence. Collaborative, proactive, and adept at navigating complex organizational structures. Estimated total compensation for this position: $375,000.00
$435,000.00 USD per year. The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data. Location: On-site
