The Uncrewed Systems Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking undergraduate students to design and assemble small unmanned rotorcraft and work on digital engineering challenges. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply. Typical duties will include: Develop control systems and implement on rotorcraft Develop test plans and conduct flight tests to verify design and control law correctness, using modeling and simulation in the design and test preparation process Develop modeling and simulation algorithms, and implement in code for use by the team Understand digital engineering tools, techniques, and tactics for future projects Prepare reports on results of testing, and present to sponsors Students studying Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer. You will be subject to a government security investigation, and you must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
