As a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Lead at On Location, you will play a pivotal role in leading our global sales and marketing operations. You will guide a team of Marketing Cloud specialists and serve as a strategic leader responsible for the architecture, evolution, and maturity of adoption of our Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) ecosystem. You will oversee the configuration, governance, and optimization of SFMC to support scalable, data-driven marketing campaigns. Working in close partnership with stakeholders across marketing, sales, data, and technology, you'll ensure that business requirements are translated into efficient technical solutions, automated workflows and journeys, and dynamic personalization strategies. In addition to hands-on platform ownership, you will be instrumental in establishing best practices, documentation standards, and internal training programs to upskill the broader team. This role requires a highly collaborative and forward-thinking marketing technologist with deep SFMC expertise, strong leadership capabilities, demonstrated success at maturing and improving ways of working, and a passion for enabling teams through clear processes and thoughtful mentorship. Key responsibilities include: Leading and mentoring a team of SFMC Specialists embedded across business verticals, ensuring alignment on standards, strategy, and execution. Overseeing SFMC solution design and implementation, and maintaining a scalable, consistent data model and segmentation framework across business units, integrating seamlessly with external data sources such as Salesforce Data Cloud and Snowflake. Owning and managing the SFMC roadmap, factoring in priorities across the business, incorporating input from key stakeholders, and addressing material tech debt. Defining and enforcing best practices for data extensions, campaign architecture, naming conventions, and BU (business unit) configuration. Driving proactive adoption of automation in the use of Marketing Cloud, both for development and deployment activities. Overseeing platform governance, including user access management, role-based access control, and BU structure setup. Administering and configuring SFMC, including core modules such as Contact Builder, Journey Builder, Email Studio, and Automation Studio. Collaborating with the Salesforce Data Cloud Administrator to align audience segmentation, activation strategy, and cross-cloud personalization. Developing and maintaining documentation, training programs, and onboarding materials to enable campaign managers and cross-functional partners. Operating as the primary point of contact for platform health monitoring, release management, and issue resolution across SFMC and integrated systems. Partnering with stakeholders in marketing, technical product, and data engineering to translate business objectives into automated lifecycle campaigns and dynamic content strategies. Evaluating and implementing new SFMC features, connectors, and enhancements to improve performance, scalability, and personalization capabilities. Staying ahead of Salesforce and SFMC trends, features, capabilities, and best practices and ensuring that what is applicable is introduced to the team for appropriate prioritization and activation. You have: 5+ years of hands-on experience with SFMC, including deep expertise in Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, and Contact Builder. 2+ years of experience in a leadership or team lead role, managing or mentoring Marketing Cloud practitioners or cross-functional marketing technology teams. Understanding of and experience in deploying Salesforce Einstein features throughout Marketing Cloud. Proven track record in designing and managing scalable Marketing Cloud architectures across multiple business units and integrating with external data sources (e.g., Salesforce Data Cloud, Snowflake, CDPs). Demonstrable experience integrating Marketing Cloud with other Salesforce products, primarily Sales Cloud and Service Cloud. Strong understanding of relational data models, segmentation logic, audience creation, and subscriber data management. Demonstrated proficiency automating workflows and journeys using tools like Journey Builder and Automation Studio. Demonstrated proficiency with AMPscript and SQL for dynamic content and data queries, and experience working with tools that facilitate implementation, testing, and troubleshooting (e.g., VS Code + Salesforce extensions, Sublime Text with AMPscript plugin, ampscript.io) Familiarity with marketing attribution, personalization strategies, and customer lifecycle automation. Excellent project management, documentation, and communication skills (both written and verbal); able to translate technical details into actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders. Experience in platform release management and maintaining healthy integration environments across enterprise systems. DevOps Center experience and strong foundation of DevOps practices and principles, proven success with incorporating CI/CD into teams and processes, and experience with DevOps tools and technologies. Proven success leading a team with a continuous improvement mindset. We'd love if you also have: Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator Certification and/or Email Specialist Certification. Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud (CDP), Interaction Studio (Personalization), or external identity/data layer solutions. Experience with Mobile Studio in SFMC. Experience using Agentforce capabilities throughout the Salesforce ecosystem. Experience with SFMC + Datadog integration. Experience in a multi-brand or multi-vertical enterprise environment with federated marketing operations. Familiarity with Agile marketing operations and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Workfront). Experience with SSJS. Background in training enablementdeveloping documentation, onboarding programs, and running workshops for marketing teams. Travel is only required for offsites, workshops, and training/conferences/events. How we work: On Location is at the center of sports and entertainment and is a largely relationship-based business.
