Medical Assistant II
We are seeking a Part-Time 20-hour Medical Assistant II to support our team Monday through Friday onsite. The schedule includes a fixed full-day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday, with two flexible shifts during the week: one full-day and one half-day shift. We offer flexibility in scheduling to accommodate your availability for this role! Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician or advanced practitioner. Our Medical Assistants are trained to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the multidisciplinary care team. We have a close-knit collaborative team of Medical Assistants who are passionate about endocrinology and diabetes. Our medical assistant team works on a rotating provider model with our team of 12 providers. Coordinates pre-visit paperwork and preparation including addressing the special needs of patients (i.e. comfort measures, communication, and other appropriate issues) Escorts patients to the exam rooms and takes vital signs. Patient services are both clinical and non-clinical in nature and include direct patient care activities such as obtaining vital signs, blood pressures, rooming patients, downloading diabetic glucometers, prescription refills requests, prescription PAs and front desk functions including scheduling appointments, appointment check in, check out, collecting copays, appointment confirmations, referral requests scanning and other non-clinical tasks as necessary. Provides assistance to providers with office procedures. Cleans and restocks exam rooms. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records including but not limited to treatment, diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status. Provides and/or coordinates the delivery of a variety of patient services under the direction of the physician, Triage RN or practice manager. Provides POC testing, including fingerstick testing and eye exams. Interacts with patients, physicians, and hospital personnel. Must possess strong clinical, interpersonal and communication skills. Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position. Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments. Accuracy and attention to detail. Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations. Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Managing one's own time and the time of others.
