Substation Operations Technical Spec I/II/III

The position will perform tasks that support DE's service territory to include: Supporting the maintenance of all air break switches (ABS) in Electric Transmission and Distribution Substations. Provide technical support for switch applications in substations for reliability and functionality. Primary tasks will be the commissioning, adjustment, and troubleshooting of ABS with Substation Contractors and Operations Personnel. Working aloft in aerial lifts and on ladders at times. Potential for work to be performed in Energized Work Zone. Addition Job focuses to include addressing quality issues of above grade electrical conductors, connectors, and support structures. Assist in the development of switchyard maintenance and operating procedures for air break switches. Develop maintenance and repair work procedures. Survey equipment in the fleet to make replacement recommendations. Perform RCA of switch equipment failures, develop OE alerts to be distributed. Interface with Engineering, Operations and Construction to ensure the switch installations are acceptable. Attend field conceptual and pre-construction meeting and manufacturer audits. Conduct training sessions as required for field personnel. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following: Substation Operations Technical Specialist 1: 1-2 years directly related experience in addition to preferred Associate's Degree; Or 3 or more years of directly related experience with a High School Diploma/GED Substation Operations Technical Specialist 2: 3 or more years of directly related experience in addition to preferred Associate's Degree; Or 5 or more years of directly related experience with a High School Diploma/GED Substation Operations Technical Specialist 3: 5 or more years of directly related experience in addition to preferred Associate's Degree; Or 7 or more years of directly related experience with a High School Diploma/GED All Levels: Interface experience with Substation Engineering and Substation Technical roles. Bachelor's degree preferred or its equivalent in addition to demonstrated directly related experience/education. Graduate of Electrical Equipment, Substation Electrician or System Protection Development Program desirable. Advanced computer skills and knowledge of software applications used in Electric Transmission maintenance and record keeping. Knowledge of substation equipment, operations and maintenance. Strong skills for obtaining, reporting and managing electronic databases. Extensive knowledge of Electric Transmission safety and work guidelines and procedures. Having a working knowledge of control design drawings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teambuilding skills, organizational skills. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Must be capable of working with minimum supervision, must be self-motivated with excellent time management skills. Must be capable of lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Education Requirements

For placement of a candidate in the Substation Operations Technical Specialist job series, the following must be met: Preferred Associate's Degree (or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education) Preferred Disciplines: Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technology (Other disciplines may be substituted for preferred discipline(s) listed above).
