Postdoctoral Appointee Position
We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division (CSE) at Argonne National Laboratory. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in catalysis, with a focus on stimulus-driven catalysis and non-equilibrium effects. In this role you will: Conduct research as part of a multidisciplinary team in heterogeneous Catalysis focusing on stimulus driven and non-equilibrium catalysis Design, synthesize, and characterize well-defined complexes supported on metal oxide or non-traditional support materials Investigate how dynamic stimuli manipulate catalyst electronic properties, and how these stimuli can manipulate catalytic elementary steps and reaction outcomes Perform detailed in situ/operando studies of catalysts using Infrared and X-ray Absorption Spectroscopies, as well as other advanced spectroscopic techniques Position Requirements Desired Qualifications Experience in the synthesis and evaluation of molecular and/or heterogeneous catalysts Strong understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics as applied to catalysis Knowledge of and experimental expertise in synthesis and characterization of highly air-sensitive catalyst materials Experience with the design and construction of batch and flow reactors for catalysis Proficiency with analytical techniques such as X-ray absorption spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopy, as well as experience with high resolution STEM imaging Excellent written and oral communication skills Requirements: Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0-5 years) in the field of organic, organometallic, or inorganic chemistry, or a related field Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork Job Family Postdoctoral Job Profile Postdoctoral Appointee Worker Type Long-Term (Fixed Term) Time Type Full time The expected hiring range for this position is $70,758.00-$117,925.00. Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs. Additionally, comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package. As an equal employment opportunity employer, Argonne National Laboratory is committed to a safe and welcoming workplace that fosters collaborative scientific discovery and innovation.
