Your scope of responsibility as O&M Technician will include the following primary functions: Start up, shut down, and routinely operate simple-cycle gas turbines and associated auxiliary systems in accordance with plant procedures and safety protocols. Operate and monitor auxiliary equipment such as air compressors, cooling systems, lube oil systems, fuel delivery systems, and plant electrical components to ensure reliable turbine operation. Conduct routine inspections and performance checks on mechanical and electrical systems to verify proper functioning and identify abnormal conditions. Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance tasks to maintain equipment integrity and reduce unplanned downtime. Follow standard operating procedures and environmental, health, and safety protocols to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Maintain accurate operating logs and records, documenting system conditions, operating parameters, and any unusual events or corrective actions. Report irregularities or equipment concerns promptly and take corrective action within established guidelines to prevent system faults or damage. Support planned and unplanned maintenance efforts by assisting with equipment isolation, preparation, and restoration to service. Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to initiate work requests, track maintenance activities, and document spare parts usage. Monitor key operational parameters such as temperature, pressure, vibration, and fluid levels using digital and analog instrumentation. Perform visual and auditory equipment inspections at regular intervals to detect signs of wear, malfunction, or failure. Troubleshoot equipment problems and support mechanical and electrical repair efforts to ensure continuity of operations. Carry out other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager in support of overall plant reliability and performance. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions. Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility. All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. The O&M Technician works a standard Monday to Friday schedule during regular day shift hours. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or "On call" status may also be required. This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $42 to $52 per hour, along with an annual performance bonus. Ability to comprehend and follow procedures and instructions related to power plant operations, typically acquired through four years of high school. An Associate degree in power plant technology, a technical field, or engineering is preferred. Demonstrated experience in technician roles within power generation, specifically with the operation and maintenance of combustion turbines and auxiliary support systems. Familiarity with mechanical and operational systems, including equipment startup, shutdown, monitoring, and routine operations within a simple-cycle plant environment. Basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with the ability to assist in troubleshooting and maintenance tasks, including the replacement or repair of pumps, valves, and turbine-related components. Working knowledge of gas turbine principles, continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), process control systems, and the ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and plant schematics. Ability to read and apply technical documentation, including blueprints, schematics, and standard operating procedures; capable of documenting maintenance work and system conditions accurately. Understanding of workplace safety requirements, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), OSHA safety standards, and environmental compliance obligations relevant to turbine operations.
