Manufacturing Engineer

GE Aerospace Edison Works Advanced Programs has several job openings for manufacturing engineers. We are looking for great talent from high experienced to early career who have a passion for manufacturing process development, manufacturing technology, process methods, digital manufacturing and production readiness. The primary responsibility of this role will be to collaborate with design engineering to develop producible designs incorporating manufacturing process capability and technology maturation early in the design cycle. During the production cycle, the responsibility will be to work with manufacturing shop engineers to develop a robust production process meeting quality, delivery and cost metrics. Additional activities may include supplier development, production support and cost out projects. Essential Responsibilities

Capability and Development: The role involves leveraging expertise in one or more of these areas - advanced machining, non-conventional methods including laser/ECM/EDM, welding, joining, fabrication, composites, ceramics, coatings, additive. Have hands-on experience in developing process methods, tooling and fixtures, programming and running production. Expertise in techniques that go beyond traditional methods to improve hardware producibility at the design phase and process development at the production phase. Collaboration with Design Engineering: A significant part of the role is working closely with design engineers to ensure that designs are manufacturable. This involves integrating manufacturing process capabilities early in the design cycle to optimize production efficiency and quality. Technology Maturation: Contribute to technology roadmaps aligned to product needs, execute on technology projects, mature MRL milestones and support successful deployment at production. Production: Working with production shops, ensure process development and planning to enable full rate production meeting quality standards and delivery timelines. Supplier Development: The role may involve evaluating and developing new suppliers, working with suppliers on process development and production readiness to ensure they can meet the requirements of production quality. Should Cost Methods: This refers to analyzing and estimating the cost of manufacturing processes to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and delivery standards. Design Integration: This involves participating in and potentially chairing technical reviews ensuring that manufacturing considerations are incorporated into the design process. Autonomy and Mentorship: Train and develop less experienced engineers and work autonomously. Uphold safety and quality, fostering a lean culture adopting FLIGHT DECK. This role is critical in bridging the gap between design and manufacturing, ensuring that innovative designs are both producible and cost-effective while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
