Phlebotomist III - Prescott
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist III for our Prescott location, where you will play a crucial role in assisting with various medical procedures and laboratory duties. This position involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating, and updating patient information. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, while ensuring a courteous and clear explanation of the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients. Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. Record maintenance data and conduct decontamination procedures. Update patient information accurately and timely. Collect and store specimens following established procedures. Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. Fully understand and execute physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper storage and temperature requirements. Follow protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries. Essential Skills
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. 1-3 years of relevant experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations. Strong understanding of blood draw techniques. Work Environment
This position is located in a dynamic and fast-paced lab or hospital setting, requiring adherence to safety regulations and protocols. The work environment demands accuracy and professionalism, with the use of various technologies and equipment to maintain specimen integrity. Hours are M-F 7a-4p. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.59/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
