As a member of the Mecklenburg County Public Health team, you will become a subject matter expert in the public health field. Position Summary Manages and encourages the adoption of health policies related to overdoseprevention in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. This position, under minimalsupervision, is responsible for leading innovative initiatives aimed atreducing the impact of the opioid crisis in our community. This role willoversee strategic projects, while serving as a key connector between publichealth, clinical partners, and community organizations. In addition, thisposition will play a critical role in ensuring data-driven, evidence-basedstrategies are effectively implemented to strengthen the County's opioidresponse and community well-being.
Essential Functions • Facilitate outreach in relation to Mecklenburg County community andclinical partners regarding overdose prevention. • Coordinate and manage evidence-based initiatives that can improvehealth at the population level. • Implement proper evaluation methodologies. • Establish specific plans and deliverables related to health prioritieswith an emphasis on reducing health disparities and increasing communityengagement. • Utilize data to support the development of innovative policies,programs and services. • Organize meetings, develop work plans,prepare reports, and communicate updates with stakeholders to ensure alignmentof goals and priorities. • Assessthe field to identify emerging trends and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications Experience: Minimum of four years of public health, healthcare and/or related experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in public health or a field related to the program area, such as Nutrition, Public Administration, Social Work, Emergency Preparedness, Health Administration, or a related field. Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes
Licenses andCertifications • Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License • Requires County Driving Privileges
Knowledge, Skills andAbilities Knowledge of • Principles and practices of public health • Health-related program and activities, with an emphasis onsubstance use, harm reduction, and overdose prevention strategies • Current trends and best practices in opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment andcommunity-based intervention (preferred, not required) Skills • Ability to manage multiple initiative simultaneously • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to think critically and work independently with minimalsupervision • Attention to detail in terms of policy content, readability, meaning, andpresentation • Ability to design, develop, and adapt presentations on a variety ofhealth topics targeted toward a diverse audience • Effective facilitation and collaboration skills to drive consensus andfoster stakeholder engagement
