JOB SUMMARY: The Culinary Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Cook with meal preparation and service. Utilizing protective gear when necessary, this position involves plating and delivering meals according to established policies and procedures. The Culinary Assistant will also be responsible for preparing, delivering food and trays, washing dishes, and maintaining a clean, sanitized kitchen in alignment with health standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The Culinary Assistant must possess strong attention to detail, maintain a professional appearance, and excel as a team player.
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English, follow directions, and complete assigned tasks is essential.
- Follows time schedules for meal preparation and serving diligently.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
- Dependable with experience in facilities using quantity food production methods.
- Demonstrates general knowledge and understanding of nutrition.
- Ability to read and accurately implement instructions from food tray cards.
- Capable of maintaining records and completing reports as required.
- Possesses effective written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledgeable in quantity food production and serving techniques, as well as food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Interacts positively with residents, clients, other personnel, and the public.
- Ability to work around food and cleaning products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must complete an approved sanitation and safety course within 60 days of employment.
Preferred:
- Specialized training in foodservice is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clinical setting.
