Job Title: Runner / Support Position – New Cocktail Bar in Williamsburg
Location: Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Position Type: Part-Time (2–4 shifts/week) or Full-Time (4–5 shifts/week)
About Us:
We’re opening a small, design-forward bar and kitchen on a fast-changing corner of Williamsburg. With craft cocktails, seasonal food, and thoughtful service at the heart of what we do, our goal is to bring a fresh, grounded energy to the neighborhood. We’re building a tight, respectful team to help shape the guest experience from the ground up, and support is a vital part of that foundation.
About the Role:
We’re looking for sharp, team-oriented runners who understand that great service is built behind the scenes just as much as out front. This is a dynamic, high-touch support role that will require the same level of knowledge and professionalism as our server role. Runners will be cross-trained across service and bar, with opportunities to deepen their understanding of cocktails, food pairings, and hospitality mechanics. Compensation for this position is weighted equally with the rest of the front-of-house team, and there’s a clear path for growth into both bar and floor roles.
You’ll be key in keeping the space smooth, clean, and connected, moving with urgency, reading the room, and backing up your teammates wherever needed.
Who You Are:
You take pride in details, stay calm under pressure, and move with purpose. You understand how to balance hustle with grace. You enjoy working with a team and contributing to a shared rhythm of service. You don’t need the spotlight, you just want things to run right.
Expectations:
- Strong sense of urgency, cleanliness, and pace
- Clear communication and a team-first mindset
- Comfort working on your feet and multitasking for hours at a time
- Punctuality, efficiency, and a calm, focused energy
- Willingness to adapt and help across roles when needed
- Interest in learning about cocktails, food, and how service flows
Qualifications:
- At least 1–2 years in a restaurant or bar support role (e.g. food runner, barback, busser)
- Understanding of food & beverage timing, flow, and service basics
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and move quickly in a busy environment
- Evening and weekend availability required
- Must be over 21 and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run food and drinks from bar and kitchen to guests with accuracy and care
- Assist in setup, breakdown, and restocking of service areas
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient floor and support zone
- Anticipate team needs and jump in wherever needed
- Help create a warm, seamless experience for guests and staff alike
- Participate in team trainings and cross-trainings across server and bar roles
Compensation:
- Hourly (NYC minimum to start) + tips
- Compensation is weighted equally with bartenders and servers
- Dining discounts, with opportunities for growth and expanded responsibilities
To Apply:
Please send a resume and a short note about why this role feels like a fit for you. We’re looking for thoughtful, grounded professionals who want to be part of something intentional and team-driven from day one.
