The Space and Intelligence (S&I) Division provides engineering services and analytic support to the Air Force, Space Force, Combatant Commands, the Intelligence Community, and NASA. Our work includes systems engineering, test planning, cost analysis, developing approaches for high-priority Defense needs, and advancing cutting-edge technologies. The division comprises the Intelligence Programs Group (IPG), Space Systems Group (SSG), and Strategic Technology Analysis Group (STAG), supporting critical national objectives to protect U.S. citizens and military forces. SPA has an immediate need for several highly qualified Senior System Safety Engineers to support our U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (SDA&CP), and Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) Support Services contract (Hemisphere) in El Segundo, CA. Travel is minimal, less than five percent, mainly domestic and occasional.

Qualifications

Required: Active TS/SCI clearance or TS/SCI Eligible U.S. Citizens only Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, or related field Minimum 10 years of relevant System Safety experience in government or industry, including DoD/IC Acquisition, Requirements Process, or large System of Systems engineering Experience with professional system acquisition communications, documentation, reporting, and outreach Desired: Experience supporting space-based system safety design, development, and operation Familiarity with U.S. Air Force and USSF acquisition policies and procedures Knowledge of FAR and DFARSUP policies related to System Safety SPA offers a competitive compensation package including base pay and variable incentives. Benefits include health insurance, savings accounts, retirement plans, insurance programs, and paid leave. Salary range: $140k - $220k, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

The Senior System Safety Engineer supports systems engineering teams in safety requirements, solutions engineering, reliability, resiliency, and analysis. The role involves working with program managers to ensure safety in space system design, development, and operation, enabling advanced capabilities and protective measures for space assets. The ideal candidate will be an: Expert in classified weapon system safety policies for DoD, Air Force, and SSC Expert in space vehicle safety considerations, including design, launch, and range safety requirements This position is contingent upon funding approval and is for future work.
