KCRA 3, the news leader in Sacramento and a Hearst Television station, is looking for an
Executive Producer
who can oversee our newscasts in a fast–paced news environment. We need someone who can construct a vision for newscasts and manage a team toward that vision. You will be a leader capable of developing content that succeeds across all linear, digital, streaming, and social platforms. The ideal candidate is experienced in making decisions under daily pressure and has a solid background in news producing.
The Executive Producer will recruit producers and collaborate with the News Director to implement effective strategies for each newscast. You must be able to handle breaking news situations and oversee engaging content when there are no emergencies. Your role also includes coaching and leading your team to improve their skills. You will report directly to the News Director.
Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation of rundowns and scripts for newscasts.
Research, pitch, and gather enterprise news stories.
Utilize graphics and visual elements to enhance presentation.
Manage, coach, and motivate producers, reporters, and video journalists.
Respond swiftly to breaking news situations.
Manage digital responses and social media engagement related to news stories.
Write compelling news stories in active voice.
Anchor newscasts or specials as needed.
Post stories and videos on the station's website and mobile platforms.
Lead editorial meetings and pitch enterprise stories.
Handle administrative duties including scheduling, performance reviews, and training.
Coordinate communication with news staff, promotions, and engineering teams.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years of producing and/or news leadership experience.
Proven writing skills and visual storytelling ability.
Ability to coordinate multiple crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
Skill in summarizing complex information clearly.
Creative presentation style with resourcefulness in showcasing content.
Strong journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Military experience will be considered relevant.
Willingness to work varied shifts and weekends as required.
Salary The estimated base salary range for this role is between $83,000 and $103,000. The actual salary offered will depend on factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions. This range is subject to change.
