Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY
This role is primarily responsible for building and expanding CHKD’s financial planning and analysis (FP&A) initiatives. This includes supporting organizational change, empowering leaders to make data-driven decisions, and standardizing and streamlining analytics and modeling efforts. The role manages and collaborates with a team of finance business partners, along with other stakeholders and leadership, to develop and achieve these initiatives. Reports to departmental leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead organizational long-range financial planning, scenario modeling, and capital allocation strategies to support sustainable growth. Direct the annual budgeting process, engaging and educating stakeholders across service lines, departments, and locations to align budgeting with long-range forecasting and capital planning, ensuring financial sustainability. Cultivate business partnerships with leaders across service lines and departments. Translate complex financial data into actionable insights, build trust, and identify ROI opportunities in collaboration with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Strategy & Planning team to develop financial models and proformas supporting service line expansion, market growth, and strategic initiatives. Deliver timely and insightful monthly reports—including dashboards, KPIs, labor productivity metrics, and financial metrics—to support decision-making. Evaluate and prioritize capital investments in clinical technology, facilities, and digital health initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and ROI.
Maintain healthcare industry expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial reimbursement methodologies. Experience in labor forecasting, provider productivity modeling, FTE demand planning, and clinical staffing optimization is essential. Champion financial automation and digital transformation by demonstrating hands-on expertise with EPM and BI tools (e.g., Strata, Power BI, Epic Cogito) to enhance FP&A capabilities, support cost transparency, track margin improvement initiatives, and enable data-driven decision-making.
Build advanced financial models and apply predictive analytics to optimize performance. Serve as a strategic advisor to the CFO, delivering clear financial narratives, preparing executive presentations, supporting governance presentations, and overseeing external financial surveys. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Lead, manage, coach, and train a team or department, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure optimal performance and productivity. Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions, including termination processes. Perform all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or relevant field; 8+ years in finance, planning, or analytics role.
Preferred Education and Experience: MBA, CFA, or Master’s degree; 12+ years in finance, including FP&A; experience in a large hospital or health system; 5+ years in leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Financial planning, modeling, data analytics & visualization (preferably Power BI), coaching & team development, effective communication, healthcare budgeting, stakeholder management, database management tools, financial software.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include healthcare finance, industry trends, hospital reimbursement, accounting, healthcare analytics, and coding languages like SQL or Python.
