Full-Time – On-Site (Not a Remote Position) Florida Grand Opera seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented Communications Associate to provide essential communications and administrative support for our organization. This individual will play a vital role in amplifying our brand, highlighting our events and programs, and supporting the high-level operational flow of the marketing and development departments, including assistance to our fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Position Overview: The Communications Associate is responsible for creating and managing content across various platforms, coordinating press and media outreach, supporting email and website marketing, and handling essential administrative tasks. This position is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about the arts. Key Responsibilities: Administration: Provide high-level administrative support for the fractional CMO and marketing department. Manage and maintain digital files, contacts, contracts, calendars, and appointments. Coordinate internal scheduling, communications workflows, and documentation. Serve as point of contact for marketing-related inquiries and information requests. Assist with logistics and planning related to campaigns, performances, and donor activations. Social Media Management: Develop and manage a comprehensive social media calendar. Create and curate original content, including videos, copywriting, and photography, to effectively communicate our brand and events. Attend all opera events, including mainstage productions and community programs, to capture and share real-time content. Highlight donor activities and participant stories from our education and outreach initiatives. Content Creation: Design and produce engaging content for the website, social media, and email marketing campaigns. Develop multimedia materials (videos, photos, graphics) to enhance storytelling and program visibility. Ensure consistency in messaging, tone, and visual branding across all channels. Press and Media Relations: Assist in the creation and distribution of press releases and media materials. Monitor media coverage and archive all press mentions. Maintain updated press kits and curated media lists. Coordinate interviews, press opportunities, and media attendance at events. Website and Email Marketing: Regularly update the organization’s website with event information, press releases, and performance content. Support the development and deployment of email campaigns to promote performances, programs, and institutional news. Team Support: Collaborate with all departments to ensure alignment in communication strategies and goals. Provide additional marketing and communication assistance as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field. Experience in social media management, content creation, and digital communications. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Proficiency with major social platforms, CMS (e.g., WordPress), email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp), and design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite a plus). Experience with photography, video editing, and graphic design is highly desirable. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail. Availability to work evenings and weekends to attend performances and events. A deep appreciation or passion for the arts—especially opera—is a significant plus.
