Winnipeg, MB The Associate Vice-President (Human Resources) (AVP HR) reports to the Vice-President (Administration) (VPA) and leads a diverse team of professionals in HR Client Services, Staff Relations, Total Compensation, HR Systems, Learning, and Organizational Development. They are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the HR unit and overseeing the delivery of the university’s HR strategy. Working with five Directors and 60 staff, the AVP HR aligns HR programs and policies with UM’s Strategic Plan: Momentum, focusing on empowering staff, faculty, and students through a culture of belonging, well-being, and inclusion. The AVP HR provides leadership and guidance on HR and labour relations issues, fostering a culture of mutual respect, positive relations, inclusivity, and well-being. This role aims to elevate HR as a strategic partner within the university, improving service excellence, visibility, and transparency. The AVP HR will also leverage data-driven decision-making to reduce institutional risk and ensure HR programs are relevant and effective.
