Summary
Develops and implements various programs designed to provide recreational opportunities to the community. Supervises and coordinates the assigned recreation employees and volunteers. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and supervises a recreation program for all ages in accordance with community needs Plans, directs, and supervises full-time/part-time employees and volunteers for programs and events Coordinates and develops after school programs, seasonal camps, events, and athletic programs Recruits, hires, trains employees and participates in staffing decisions on other teams Manages multiple departmental projects Assists in developing program policies and standards Secures and schedules use of facilities, equipment, personnel, and officials Submits work orders for repairs needing to maintain safety of equipment Oversees inventory and property management Prepares staff schedules, reviews, and approves bi-weekly time sheets Partners with the Communication and Marketing Department to promote programs through recreation publications, newsletters, flyers, and other media Manages data in City systems, such as RecTrac/WebTrac, OpenGov, Dayforce, EmPerform and Temple Parks and Recreation websites and calendars Provides quality customer service both on the phone and in person Resolves citizen complaints concerning, instructors, or the facilities Provides weekly program, activity, and financial reports to Division Director Oversees the acceptance, reception, and collection of payments Oversees the preparation and processing of purchase orders Submits financial recommendations that impact the department budget Monitors the budget within the assigned division Ensures City financial policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
Combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in Recreation Management, Health and Kinesiology, or similar field of study Three (3) years of experience developing and implementing programs or a related field Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role Preferred Qualifications
Work experience in municipal government and/or county level parks and recreation operations Bilingual in English & Spanish Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Driver's license CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP) - Preferred
