POSITION SUMMARY
The scorekeeper plays a vital role in supporting the Recreation Centers' Adult Sports Program by ensuring accurate scorekeeping and effective facility oversight. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of game statistics, enforcing league rules, and providing exceptional service to all participants. A successful scorekeeper will demonstrate flexibility, accountability, and a commitment to fostering a positive recreational environment. Evening and weekend availability is required. Accurately record game scores and statistics using league-provided systems and score sheets. Familiarize yourself with all league rules and guidelines, ensuring they are upheld during games. Collaborate with officials to address game situations and verify player eligibility. Promptly report significant incidents on or off the field to the Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator. Manage player rosters, enforce check-in procedures, and communicate any suspensions to officials. Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring all facility policies are effectively implemented. Be prepared to execute emergency procedures, including equipment handling and evacuation protocols. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the score booth. Demonstrate flexibility by working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge Basic understanding of sports and athletic rules to manage game scoring effectively. Demonstrated motivation, professionalism, and ability to follow directions. Strong public relations and conflict resolution skills. Effective communication across diverse age groups. Familiarity with equipment such as scoreboards, microphones or sound systems, and first aid supplies. Abilities Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with players, officials, and spectators. Comprehension and execution of simple instructions and correspondence. Proficiency in basic mathematical operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Capability to write simple correspondence and execute assigned tasks proficiently. Adequate vision and hearing to read instructions and respond to verbal communications. Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor weather climates. Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and perform activities such as bending, sitting, squatting, walking, or standing for extended periods. Education and Certifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum age requirement: 18 years. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Experience Previous work-related training and experience or athletics/guest services equivalent training and experience. Prior customer service experience is advantageous. Previous scorekeeping experience preferred but not mandatory. HOURLY RATE
