Locums - Pediatrics HospitalistLocation: Roseburg, OregonSetting: Inpatient Level II Nursery Coverage Dates:
  • Oct 20: 4-hour orientation
  • Oct 21 (7am) - Oct 27 (7am)
  • Nov 12 (7am) - Nov 17 (7am)
  • Dec 5 (7am) - Dec 10 (7am)
  • Dec 22 (7am) - Dec 27 (7am)
Schedule Details:
  • 24-hour call (7am-7am)
  • 8 hrs/day rounding + call coverage
  • Average call-back volume:
  • Weekdays: 8.4/day
  • Weekends: 6.5/day
  • In-house time: Avg. 5-6 hrs clinical care daily Hospital Info:
    • Facility Type: Community Hospital
    • Beds:
    • 18-bed Pediatric Ward (6-bed Peds Unit, typically 2 patients/day)
    • Level II Nursery (4-6 newborns/day; 2-4 admits)
  • No Pediatric ICU - basic ICU-level care provided on floor (DKA, CPAP, etc.)
  • No Circumcisions Required
  • Not Required for All Deliveries - RTs/RNs manage; called only for complications Duties:
    • Rounding on Inpatient Pediatrics and Newborns
    • ED Consults
    • Stabilization and Transfer of Critically Ill
    • Required Procedures:
    • Lumbar puncture
    • Intubation
    • Umbilical line placement
    Support & Systems:
    • EMR: Patient Keeper (interface with Meditech)
    • Neonatology Support: Phone consults + transfer team from Sacred Heart (Eugene)
    Requirements:
    • Board Eligible or Board Certified Pediatrics - Required
    • Active Oregon Medical License - Required
    • DEA - Required
    • BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP - Preferred (not explicitly listed but generally expected)
    Additional Notes:
    • Option to teach students/residents during downtime
    • Minimal call-back and rarely required for high-risk deliveries
    • Great opportunity for pediatricians confident in level II nursery care and light inpatient responsibilities
