Job Description
Construction Superintendent
Supervise and coordinate daily field operations related to
concrete structures ,
utility installations
(water, sewer, storm, electrical), grading, paving, and drainage. Oversee the layout, forming, pouring, and finishing of
concrete foundations, curbs, slabs, retaining walls, and flatwork . Manage the installation of underground and above-ground
utilities , including stormwater systems, water mains, sanitary sewers, and duct banks. Interpret and implement civil and structural drawings, specifications, and work plans related to
concrete and utility scopes . Ensure quality control for
concrete placements , including slump, finish, curing, and formwork removal. Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors specializing in
utilities
and
concrete supply
to maintain project schedule and quality. Enforce all safety regulations, especially in excavation, confined space, and
concrete handling
operations. Monitor daily production and material usage, including
concrete volume
and utility pipe inventory. Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety meetings related to
civil, concrete , and
utility work . Collaborate with engineers and inspectors to resolve field issues related to utility conflicts or concrete specifications. Ensure timely inspections, testing, and approvals for
utility connections
and
concrete pours . Maintain accurate records of as-builts, redlines, and daily reports with a focus on
utility locations
and
concrete placements . The Successful Applicant
Construction Superintendent
Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil construction with significant hands-on experience in
concrete
and
utility
work as a Civil Superintendent. Proven ability to manage large crews and subcontractors on projects involving
mass concrete work , utility infrastructure, and earthwork. Extensive knowledge of
concrete materials , mix designs, placement techniques, finishing tools, and curing methods. In-depth understanding of
utility construction methods , including trenching, bedding, backfilling, and hydrostatic or air testing. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, civil/site drawings, and utility schematics. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid) is a plus. OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
