The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. This role involves inspecting materials, parts, and products at various stages of production to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
Inspection & Testing
Perform incoming inspection of mechanical, electrical, and custom fabricated components using calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and other hand tools. Conduct in-process and FAI of electrical panels, subassemblies, and finished automation systems to ensure conformance to engineering drawings, customer requirements, and production plan. Execute torque verification and label audits. Documentation & Records
Accurately complete inspection records, nonconformance reports, and final inspection documentation. Maintain quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 standards and internal procedures. Assist in preparing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) for new assemblies, custom parts, or new suppliers. Nonconformance Management
Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material or product during inspection. Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts in collaboration with Quality Engineers and manufacturing teams. Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and rework verification. Tooling & Equipment Calibration
Monitor and track calibration status of gages and inspection tools. Coordinate with metrology service providers for periodic calibration needs. Process Support & Continuous Improvement
Provide feedback to Engineering and Manufacturing on recurring defects or process deviations. Participate in quality audits, process reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist in training new technicians or production team members on inspection standards and quality expectations. Systems & Communication
Utilize ERP and QMS tools for inspection routing and documentation control. Communicate quality concerns promptly and clearly to supervisors, engineers, and production leads. Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent, an Associate's degree or technical certification is preferred, and 2+ years of experience in a Quality Inspection role, or a similar role, in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in using QA tools and processes Prior First Article Inspection experience Identify and document non-conforming issues Experience working in the automation / machine control industry is a plus Strong organizational and documentation skills Time management skills, prioritize responsibilities. Computer skills; Excel, Word, Outlook Strong verbal and written communication skills Work in a fast-paced-team environment Prior experience reporting to management in other locations is a plus
