The Impact You'll Make in this Role As a Senior Manufacturing Technology Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Identifying, developing, and deploying process advancements related to polymer processing (extrusion, mixing, compounding, etc.) to drive prioritized operations improvement and product/process scale-up projects. Collaborating with plant operations, division, and corporate lab partners to understand opportunities and develop new or leverage existing technologies as appropriate to implement solutions. Leading lab and plant experiments to develop and advance our understanding of interactions between materials composition, process conditions, and resulting product performance for key manufacturing processes. Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs. Traveling to manufacturing and customer locations, when needed, to provide experiment coverage, consultation, knowledge transfer, troubleshooting, or training. Providing input in the development of and executing organization-wide strategies for assigned technologies. This includes best practices, capital and resource needs, improvement plans, standardization when appropriate, etc. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) OR High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering and/or manufacturing experience AND Two (2) years of experience in process development, product development, engineering and/or manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Four (4) or more years of experience in extrusion, film and/or adhesive development. Experience with technology transfer, process scale-up and/or new product commercialization in a manufacturing environment. Experience with polymer and/or adhesive formulation and related materials characterization and performance testing techniques. Demonstrated leadership, project management and influencing skills to work with clients and cross functional team members from multiple divisions and geographic locations to understand their manufacturing needs and help guide projects toward robust cost-effective manufacturing processes. Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills and capabilities. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes. Ability to respond to new information and inputs with a sense of urgency. Work location: On-Site, Hybrid Eligible; Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Center in Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week (subject to change) Travel: May include up to 25%, could be domestic or international Relocation Assistance: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status). This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
