Job Title
Sets up and operates printing press machines (Flexo, Roto, Letter, Sheet Fed, or Screen etc.) Primary Responsibilities
Press Assistant
Maintains production schedule by assisting operator in setting up, making adjustments, resolving difficulties and substituting to maintain workflow. Gathers supplies by following requisition orders, obtaining stock material, tooling, jigs and other needed supplies and containers, recording receipt and usage. Monitors basic press room supplies and submits requisitions this includes the incoming inspection and inventory control for cylinders, plates, and supplies. Assists in press operations documentation by providing data on order output, ink and material usage, calculates basic math; reading measuring rule, machine counters, other gauges and apparatuses; filling in required paperwork per department work instructions. Primary Responsibilities
Press Operator & Sr. Press Operator
Prepares press. Sets up, installs, and runs all required stations such as; plates, screens, cylinders, cutting dies, ink and adhesive pans. Monitors apparatus, guides, trim blades, blowers, counters, and any other applicable stations. Regulates and controls press. Adjusts settings to produce quality products in accordance to manufacturing and customer specifications and quality standards. Verifies output with proofs on file and with Quality Assurance department. Identifies press run conditions. Visually inspects output and manually checks dimensional characteristics, matches color standards, calibrates registrations and works with Quality Assurance and Inspecting personnel. Documents press operations. Notes order output, ink and material usage, calculates basic math, reads measuring rule, machine counters, gauges and apparatuses. Completes required paperwork per department work instructions. Completes press operations. Obtains Quality Assurance approval, segregates and or marks rejected material, records and summarizes press process per department work instructions. Perform all necessary 5S activities per 5S task assignment sheet and preventative maintenance. Solves problems and troubleshoots. Ensures safe and proper operation of equipment. Completes basic maintenance requirements, follows manufacturer's instructions, troubleshoots malfunctions and calls for repairs. Basic Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED and vocational training on printing technology OR the equivalent combination of education and skills. Experience
Press Operator: Completion of apprenticeship program and/or 1 - 5 year(s) of experience operating flexographic printing presses or equivalent combination of education and skills. Basic material knowledge Reads and follows instructions Attention to detail, trouble shooting, basic mathematical aptitude, reading measuring rule, and effective communication skills. Experience
Press Operator, Sr.: 5+ years of experience operating flexographic printing presses or equivalent combination of education and skills. Proficiently sets-up and run at least 2 Press machines. Extensive material knowledge. Reads and follows instructions. High degree of attention to details, trouble shooting, mathematical aptitude, reading measuring rule, and effective communication skills. Physical Requirements
Employee is required to stand, bend, kneel, walk, sit, balance, handle or feel objects; tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions
Manufacturing environment Hearing protection recommended. Hair, beard nets and smocks required. Gloves ARE required for all products or functions, except for products involving tape. Exposure to manufacturing equipment (moving parts, cutters etc.). Exposure to odors associated with manufacturing.
