The Director of Strategic Initiatives is a senior leadership role responsible for driving cross-functional projects, strengthening organizational systems, and aligning key initiatives with HSI's long-term strategic vision. Reporting to the CEO and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, the Director will lead high-priority efforts across departments. This person will serve as a key internal leader, working alongside the CEO and senior team to move high-priority projects forward, improve internal operations, and turn big-picture ideas into action. The role exists to bridge strategy and execution. The ideal candidate will coordinate across departments, keeping HSI moving forward on major goals, and ensuring that critical initiatives are delivered effectively and sustainably. This full time, exempt onsite position is eligible for hybrid remote work at management discretion, and will directly supervise the Head of Program Impact and Data Quality, with a focus on integrating data, performance evaluation, and compliance into strategic decision-making and organization-wide planning. The Director will also serve as an additional liaison to public sector partners, helping to manage relationships and communications with municipal, county, and state stakeholders that impact HSI's programs, partnerships, and funding. This position is offered in a salary range from $125K-$135K. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and Leadership Team on agency-wide priorities, helping to align resources and actions with HSI's long-term goals Oversee and support HSI's Program Evaluation and Impact strategy through direct supervision of the Head of Program Impact and Data Quality, ensuring integration of data and reporting into strategic and program planning Direct and manage a broad range of projects and initiatives to help ensure organizational effectiveness and attainment of strategic priorities consistent with the organization's short and long-range plan. Partner with the CEO to develop and implement housing and real estate strategies that ensure the long-term physical and financial health of HSI's property portfolio, while advancing its mission and community impact. Government & Stakeholder Relations Serve as a liaison between HSI and local, county, and state government officials, helping to strengthen partnerships, shape public policy, and ensure alignment with external expectations and represent the organization. Operational Integration & Performance Identify opportunities and build systems, tools, and workflows that improve collaboration across departments to improve efficiency and service quality. Establish KPI and reporting systems. Executive Partnership Act as a trusted partner to the CEO, support the leadership team in implementing change and ensuring internal alignment around strategy and facilitate problem-solving and clarity between stakeholders. Internal Communication & Change Management Translate strategy into clear, actionable communication and plans for staff at all levels, lead trainings, staff briefings, and working groups to support understanding and implementation of new initiatives while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and clarity across the organization. Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in nonprofit management, government, or cross-sector leadership roles with an emphasis on operational planning, strategic execution, and systems integration Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution, with strong project management skills; PMP certification or equivalent experience a plus Experience managing high-stakes, time sensitive projects involving multiple departments or stakeholders Strong understanding of nonprofit or government systems, especially within housing, homelessness, or health & human services Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage across staff, board, public officials, and community partners A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across roles and respect the expertise of frontline teams Strong systems thinker who can connect vision to implementation and is comfortable navigating ambiguity High emotional intelligence, integrity, and collaborative leadership style Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed, and equity-driven approaches Meet all physical and agency specific requirements as detailed in full job description. Full time permanent staff of Homeless Solutions are eligible to enroll in fully paid medical, dental and life insurance coverage plans in accordance with HSI policies. In addition, all staff are eligible immediately upon hiring to participate in a 401k retirement savings plan, including up to a 6% company paid match.
